Written by SAU Team | Oct 3, 2025 11:03:00 AM

The line “Tools and Inserts for Grooving and Cutting” by SAU was born from the desire to satisfy all mechanical grooving and cutting operations by offering a continuously growing and technologically cutting-edge range of inserts and tools.

General characteristics of Sau Grooving and Cutting Tools and Inserts

The range of inserts is vast, but that of tools is no less so. In our line of mechanically fastened tools we offer: internal tools, external tools, front tools, and cutting blades.
The inserts are both unilateral and bilateral and allow applications on the most common types of materials on the market.
The tools are nickel-plated, this treatment process allows for greater chip flow, greater wear resistance and excellent oxidation protection.

Characteristics, processed materials and range of unilateral inserts for Sau Grooving and Cutting

The unilateral inserts for applications on TRL bilateral blade tools have a width of 3 and 4 mm with 3 specific degrees for the various materials and 3 chip breakers, one of which is specific for non-ferrous materials.
The study of the chip breaker, in combination with the coatings, offers excellent chip control.
There are unilateral inserts measuring 14.5 and 25 mm in length.
The GMGN... .X47 insert with PCD cutting edge is specific for non-ferrous alloys, it is available in widths of 2-3-4-5 mm in both standard and radial shapes.
In the range of unilateral ones there are also inserts “GMGN-L-R... .X52” with 25mm long for grooving and cutting applications up to 32.5mm deep.

Characteristics, processed materials and range of Bilateral inserts for Sau Grooving and Cutting

The bilateral inserts have lengths of 14.5 and 25 mm, the length 14.5 mm has a width of 2-3-4 mm while the length 25 mm has a width of 3-4-5-6 mm.
The bilateral inserts have 3 specific grades and different chip breaker geometries. The insert .X54, with the possibility of application in turning processes.
There are radiused inserts with chip breakers .X55 also present in the range, whose applications perform in all the most generic materials.
The range of bilateral inserts, thanks to the targeted study of the chip breaker in synergy with the various coatings, also offers excellent chip control.

Characteristics, processed materials and range of Sau Grooving and Cutting Tools

The SAU grooving and cutting tools are: TRL blades, TRI internal tool, TRC external tools, external tool with double cooling lubricant supply on the TRW cutting edge, TRCX / TRWX for deep machining up to 32.5 mm.
Furthermore, the range offers TRF front groove tools.
All tools are nickel-plated, allow advanced work performance and guarantee greater resistance to wear.
The peculiar characteristic of the TRI internal tool is that it can fit into a minimum hole of 20 mm.
The TRCX and TRWX tools have a maximum working depth of 32.5 mm with widths of 3 and 4 mm.
TRF front groove tools have a working range from 35 to 350 mm.

Strengths and advantages of the Sau range for grooving and cutting

The entire range of Sau Grooving and Cutting inserts can be used without distinction for internal, external and frontal processes.
This feature allows you to have an insert for four different processes with consequent savings in economic terms, processing and supply times.
